Bharat Aluminium Company is one of the largest producers of aluminium in India. BALCO is an integrated aluminium company in Chhattisgarh with captive bauxite mines, a captive power plant, refineries and smelters.

 

BALCO’s plant at Korba in Chhattisgarh produces 100,000 tonnes of aluminium every year.


Currently, BALCO is executing a US$ 863 million expansion plan to increase its aluminium production capacity from 100,000 tonne per annum to 345,000 tonne per annum.

 


Keeping above in view, a Aluminium Park is proposed for aluminium downstream industries.


Procurement operations for supply of various requirements of Eastern Railway was de-centralised and same is given to South East Central Railway (SECR), Bilaspur. This has opened up opportunities for aluminium based industries in Chhattisgarh.

 

CSEB is another major end-user of Aluminium. It consumes Aluminium primarily in the form of overhead conductors.

 

There are many more value added products of Aluminium which are in increasing demand. Some such products are required in -
* Construction industry
* Transportation / Auto industry
* Packaging industry
* Consumer durable industry / Electrical appliances industry
* Others (e.g. Printing plates, gas cylinders, etc.)

 

Chhattisgarh is ideal state for setting up Aluminium Park because of -
* Land Availability.
* Availability of Raw Material.
* Peaceful labour environment.
* Availability of Sufficient Infrastructure Facilities to Promote Aluminium Based Industry (Such as Power, Water etc.).
* Convenient Transport Facilities (Road & Rail Link).
* Easy Marketing Facilities.

 

Hence an Aluminium Park in Korba district on approx. 140 ha. of land is proposed as one of the growth engine to promote the value addition in the Aluminium sector.

 

The Govt. land has been earmarked & will be transferred to CSIDC soon.

* Aluminum Cables & Conductors.
* Casting Utensils,/Aluminium Extrusions for Doors,Windows, Bus body structures Components of Automotives, Aluminum Wheels, Plain & Printed Foils for Pharma and Other Packaging Industries.
* Aluminium powder, dross refinery, dross based articles, tubes, cans/cook wares, aluminium cores, checkered plates.
