Export Scenario of the State
Nearly 75 per cent of exports from Chhattisgarh emanate from Bhilai, and the remaining from Urla, Bhanpuri, Sirgitti etc. Major exportable products of the State are Steel, Handicraft, Handloom, blended yarn, food/agri products, Iron, Aluminium, Cement, Minerals & Engineering Products.

Handcrafted wood, iron &
steel, terra cotta, bell metal & handloom items are major attractions
in International market.
Only State offering quality fabric
in Tassar Silk / Kosa, which has good export potential in European
Countries like UK,France, Switzerland,Norvey, USA, Australia, South Africa,
Canada, Japan etc.
State has vast potential to export
processed foods, organically grown cereals, herbal & medicinal
products.
Agriculture products like
Rice-presently exported in huge quantities to neighbouring countries,
Derivatives and intermediates of rice products, Food Processing Industries,
Bio-Diesel.
Mineral based products like steel and pig iron, steel castings, forging & equipments, Steel structurals, cement, silico-mangnese etc.
Steps
taken for export promotion Activities
CSIDC is the nodal agency of the Government of Chhattisgarh for Export Promotion in the State. Managing Director, CSIDC is also acting as Export Commissioner for the State.
Conducted Export Potential Survey of the State done by Indian Institute of
Foreign Trade. Steps taken as per recommendation include -
CSIDC has started collection of data on capacity and production of export
worthy units situated in the State . This information is crucial both for
availing central assistance and planning export development in the state.
CSIDC is
establishing Chhattisgarh Trade Center with facilities for display of
products, buyer seller meets and other export related functions.
Establishing
linkage with Export Promotion Councils, Commodity Boards, Regulatory
Bodies, Chambers of Commerce and Industry Associations has been started, so
that, updated business information can be made available to interested
units.
Organizing
& participating in national as well as international trade fairs,
seminars etc.
Organising training programme on export development / promotion.
Link Road to Inland Container Depot, Kaapa (Raipur)
To facilitate dispatch of export cargo from Chhattisgarh, the Container Corporation of India has commissioned an Inland Container Depot at Kaapa near Raipur. Construction of link road (construction, upgradation, street light etc.) to Inland Container Depot, Kaapa (Distt. Raipur) is in completion stage..
