Herbal & Medicinal Park

Chhattisgarh is bestowed with vast forest resources which account its 44 % of total geographical area.

 

Chhattisgarh forest ecosystems are very rich in Non-Wood Forest Products (NWFP).

 

The state has been recognized as an established center for trade in herbal/ medicinal plants/ products. Currently the trade of Non-Wood Forest Products is more than one lakh tons in terms of volume and Rs. 575 Crores in terms of value.

 

GoC has declared the State as "Herbal State" with an objective to develop & conserve NWFP.

 

It has been proposed to develop the Herbal Medicinal Park in Bagaudh villages of Kurudh Tehsil (30 km from New Capital Raipur City) in Dhamtari on about 100 ha of land.

 

The location has following advantages:

 

    *     Wide forest cover of the district and proximity to source of Herbal medicinal plants.

 

    *     Well established trading center for NWFP.

 

    *     Proximity to the State capital Raipur.

 

    *     Sufficient water, power & labour availability.

 

 

In proposed herbal/ medicinal park following components have been envisaged:

 

 

    *     Identified plots for herbal/ medicinal processing/ manufacturing units to be set up by entrepreneurs.

 

    *     Provision for utility services water supply, sewerage, power supply and telephone lines.

 

    *     Common Facilities Testing laboratory and R&D centre, training centre, marketing/ branding services.

 

Project development cost of Herbal & Medicinal Park is about Rs. 25-35 Crs.(Approx.). 

 

This park is being developed on Public Private Partnership basis (PPP) and  M/s Ramky Infrastructure Ltd., Hyderabad has been selected to develop this project.
