CSIDC has a Testing Laboratory in Bhilai engaged in testing of products from local industries and issue quality marking certificates . CSIDC is upgrading this testing laboratory to bringing it to the level where the test certificates given by the laboratory are accepted by Central / State Governments, / Undertakings and others. 

 

Presently Bhilai Laboratory is providing testing facilities of Metallurgical Mechanical, Physical, Civil, Building Material and Chemical & allied testing of various items such as metallic and non metallic materials, bolts, nuts, and other fastners, hardware, barbed wire, boiler plate, cast iron and steel casting products, steel wires, non ferrous and its alloys, chalk, naphthalene, alum, building materials (cubes, bricks tiles, aggregate, sand and To steel etc.) Galvanised articles etc. and various products produceds by ancillary units of Bhilai Steel Plant.

 

The Testing facilities available at QMTL Bhilai are being utilized by RITES, DGS & D, CPWD, P&T, SAIL CSEB, PHED, Bhilai Steel Plant, Bokaro Steel Plant, various Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Corporation etc. in addition to the Small & Medium Scale Industries of Chhattisgarh. The QMTL Bhilai is equipped with all necessary equipments/instruments for testing of products described above.

 

This is the only Testing Laboratory in the Govt. Sector, which is being operated by A Chhattisgarh Govt. Undertaking in Chhattisgarh State to whom a status of "State Test House" is being given with the induction of various new/additional testing facilities.

*    Chemical Testing Facilities :

 

(A) Determination of Chemical element like Carbon, Sulphur, Phosphorus, Mangenese, Silicon, Nickle, Chromium, Molybdenum, Vanadium, Copper etc. In Angle, Beam, Channel, Round, Iron & Steel Castings, Pig Iron & Alloy's Steel etc.
(B) Galvanising Testing of Wire, Plate, Nut & bolt, Stay set Earthing wire etc.
(C) Staining test of Stainless Steel Utensils.
(D) Testing of Alum, Naphthalene, Acid etc.
(E) Testing of Non ferrous Cu, Al, Zn, Pb, etc.

 

*      Mechanical /Physical Testing Facilities :

 

(A) Tensile, Bend, Hardness test of Angle, Channel, Beam, Plate, Steel Casting, Cast Iron, Tor Steel, Alloy's Steel etc.
(B) Load Test of Joints, Staysets, Welding Joints, chain, ropes etc.
(C) Tensile, Bend, Impact test of Boiler Plate.
(D) Dump/ Compression test of rivet material.
(E) Tensile, Bend reverse Bend, Torsion & Wrapping test of wires.

(A) Crushing strength, Water absorption, Density test of Bricks.
(B) Compressive Strength of R.C.C. Cubes.
(C) Crushing, Impact, Abrasion, Grading, Specific Gravity, Water Absorption, Flakiness test of metal.
(D) Grading & Fineness Modulus test of sand.
(E) Tensile, Bend test of reinforcement steels.
(G) Transverse test, Abrasion test and water absorption of cement concrete flooring tiles.
(H) Impact test, water absorption and crazing test of glazed tiles.
